TORQUE IN COUPLING

Misalignment of machinery shaft causes reaction forces to be generated in the coupling which affects the machines and are often a major cause of machinery vibration. The reaction forces generated by the couplings are described for each type of coupling in current use and especially for the several types of non lubricated couplings which are seeing increased usage. Here we reduce the failure in a system by increasing the stiffness torque of the coupling. Stiffness torque is to be increased by considering various parameters like Material selection, Coupling selection, Appropriate Shaft diameter, Suitable power and torque requirements. The testing is done in ANSYS and compared the analyzed result by experimental setup. This result helps in selecting suitable couplings for applications and reduces maintenance and also it will increase the life of the coupling.
