Some studies on the ultimate load analysis of slab-beam floor system

The present work can be divided into two parts namely a) study of the development of compressive membrane forces in the post-yield stage of horizontally restrained reinforced concrete slabs encountered in slab-beam floor system and evaluation of the enhanced capacity of the slab panel due to this membrane force under varying degrees of edge-restraints, b) presenting a numerical method for obtaining lower-bound to the collapse load of an isolated slab-beam panel (with T-beam action) in the spirit of classical limit analysis. In Chapter1, an introduction to the development of membrane action in the slab-beam floor system in the post-yield stage is given and its importance in the ultimate load analysis of such system is discussed.
