SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGY

Textile  processing  generates  many  waste  streams  including  water  based  effluent

and chemical wastes .The waste water contains extra amount of colour residues, electrolytes,

toxic air emissions, low metals, aquatic toxicity.

The objective  of  this  work  was  to  reduce  the  chemical  content      process  by

optimizing  the effect  of  the  controllable  parameters.  The  problem  was  tackled  using  the

DMAIC cycle of disciplined Six Sigma methodology. Initially sigma level was found and a

target  sigma  level  was  set.  The  outcome  of  the  analyses  observed      at  every  phase  was

explained  based  on  textile  technology  Actions  taken  on  the  critical  activities  led  to the

reduction in usage of  agents. The  yield of the overall process has improved to the effective

management.
