Performance Improvement

The thermal performances of a single glass
double pass porous bed air heater absorber plate is
investigated experimentally and theoretically. To
increase the collection of extra radiation and also to
improve the air collector efficiency, side mirrors are
used. The use of a porous medium will be beneficial if
it is operated in the higher temperature rise
parameter range, i.e. when relatively higher grade
thermal energy output is required or when relatively
lower insolation values are available. The proposed air
heater is simple in design and adds no operational or
maintenance complexities over conventional air
heaters
