Oil is generally injected in the screw air
compressors for cooling the compression system,
lubricating the bearings and sealing the rotary
screws. The oil used must be removed from the
stream of compressed air before the compressed
air may be used for pneumatic equipment and
other tools. In application aspect, there will be a
drop in the pressure across the separator and it
should be within the specified range. If pressure
drop increases, it results in excess power
consumption in the compressor. This work is
aimed at optimizing the air oil separation system
to reduce the pressure drop thereby reducing the
power consumption in a screw compressor using
CFD and real time testing with a proto build
