optimization of Electrical
Discharge machining (EDM) process with multiple
performance characteristics based on the L18
Orthogonal Array with Modified Taguchi Method has
been studied. An orthogonal array, the Signal-to-
Noise(S/N) ratio, and the Analysis Of Variance
(ANOVA) are employed to study the performance
characteristics in machining of H11 material using
Copper electrode as tool. The machining parameters,
namely, peak Current, Pulse ON-Time, Pulse OFFTime
were optimized with considerations of multiple
performance characteristics including Surface
roughness, Electrode Wear Ratio (EWR), and
Material Removal Rate (MRR). Experimental results
have shown that machining performance in the EDM
process can improved effectively through this
approach.
