Java technology in the Theater Telemedicine Prototype Project (T2P2)


Tripler Army Medical Center is the Government agent responsible for Project AKAMAI, a Department of Defense (DoD) health project focused on assessing the value of telemedicine/telehealth and telecommunications technologies in the Pacific Region Health Care System. As part of this focus the Akamai team has been evaluating the potential of Web based telemedicine software tools to enhance remote clinicians' and medical providers' abilities to use the expertise at a regional facility, e.g. Tripler Army Medical Center for medical consultation. The paper discusses the development of a Theater Telemedicine Prototype Project (T2P2), designed to provide a testbed to explore and evaluate the performance of Web based store and forward delivery of consultative care
