Ignition(CI) engine.

The use of palm oil – based bio diesels
have been proposed as an alternative fuel for
diesel engines in Asian countries. The purpose of
this work is to investigate the performance and
exhaust emission of various blends of palm oil
methyl ester (POME) in a small - unmodified
single cylinder diesel engine and to compare them
with that of a reference diesel fuel (D100). We
have esterified the refined palm oil in our Bio-
Process laboratory and the properties of the
POME were within the limits as mentioned in
ASTM (D) 6751 Standards of bio diesel. The effect
of temperature on the viscosity of the bio diesel
was studied.
