Heat Treatment

Composites that form heterogeneous structures
which meet the requirements of specific design and
function imbued with the desired properties. High
strength, fracture toughness and stiffness are
offered by metal matrix composites. They can
withstand elevated temperatures in corrosive
environment than polymer matrix composites. This
paper presents the effect of heat treatment on the
wear testing of hybrid aluminium metal matrix
composites. The composite was fabricated using
stir casting method and wear rate has been studied
using pin on disc apparatus. The wear rate of
hybrid composites have been studied by keeping
the load and sliding distances are constant. The
results showed that with increasing solutionizing
temperature, ageing time and ageing temperature
increases the wear resistance of hybrid composite
