provides an overview of aspects of vehicle aerodynamic research the air flow around the vehicle body to reduce drag of the vehicle in normal working condition. The purpose of this project is to check the feasibility of using such external devices for reducing drag on the sedan model. The generic sedan model created by previous research experiments along with the reference model is considered as a benchmark for validating all the simulation results. Simple external device like Under-Carriage Flow Device (UFD) using airdam to measure and see what actually happens to a sedan car fitted with an airdam are simulated and optimized using commercial software packages like FLUENT, GAMBIT, and Solidworks. We’ve used CFD thereby reduces drag coefficient of the complete sedan model compared to the original sedan model. The optimal sizes of the sedan model for the drag reduction are discussed in this project.
