DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF 8 BIT MICROPROCESSOR USING VHDL TOOL

AIM:

                 The aim of the project is to design an 8 Bit Microprocessor using VHDL tools and implement it in programmable FPGA.

THEORY:

                 The 8-bit Microprocessor proposed in this project is designed to perform arithmetic functions like addition, subtraction and multiplication. Using combination of the above in built function, desired logical control could be performed for a given process.

HARDWARE:

                 The Hardware of 8-bit Microprocessor consists of FPGA as Microprocessor, buffer, clock generator, SPDT switches, LED and LCD display.

SOFTWARE:

                  Using VHDL software tool, a digital system can be designed and simulated, also the timings of various signals can be verified. Then the system can be implemented in ATMEL FPGA using IDS 6.0.

APPLICATIONS:

Ø  Used intemperature control system.

Ø  Used in Traffic light control system.

Ø  Stepper motor control system.

Ø  Keyboard and Display interface.

Ø  Seven segment LED interface.
